Apartment 701 is a 1500 sq.ft. home located in Juhu, Mumbai. The site is endowed with copious natural light and ample air circulation with a view of tree tops.

The client gave us a brief of minimal, clutter free spaces adhering to a grid of clean lines and use of minimal materials.

The house reflects a story of clean ensemble of the wooden furniture, natural material, ample of greens reflecting the characteristics of the user. The spaces has been planned to maximize floor space, and utility.

At the entrance a warm lobby adorns a console and a niche interpreting nine elements of vaastu, leads one into the living room. A palette of raw stone, wooden elements and greenery, the living room is a prologue to a distinct narrative that references the vintage-Indian vernacular. The baithak-style sofa, wooden swing, vaastu-inspired grid installed between the living and dining, cabriole-legged marble-top tables tautly balance a minimal narrative and sensitive composition.

On vaastu guidelines, a bedroom was re-planned as a kitchen with a Dining protruding from the serving counter. The Kitchen imparts warmth with a wood and brass material palette and ample of natural light.

The master bedroom was then planned with a centrally located bed and a study. The floating headboard provided a storage for everyday bed linens as against an under bed storage. The en-suite master bathroom was born out of merging two bathrooms to create a walk-in wardrobe cum bathroom.

A simple geometry of four solid wood posts frame the bed in the daughter’s bedroom is dominated by wood in a subtle and the requisite colour and freshness through art. The bathroom is a rustic space, accented by warm wooden elements and accessories.
